From Breathless And Depressed To Walking 10 km A Day!

A natural lifestyle that changed my life

The Sattv lifestyle, which I was introduced to by Dr Vikram, has transformed my relationship with food, health, and life itself. I once lived with severe diabetes, multiple heart issues, and a medicine cabinet full of beta‑blockers, blood thinners, and other tablets that cost me more than ₹5,000 a month, along with quarterly cardiologist visits to Mumbai. I had sleepless nights, what the doctor called insomnia, and felt totally depressed, unable to walk for more than ten minutes without becoming breathless.

Discovering Nature’s Laws

At my lowest point, shifting to Karjat felt more like an escape than a fresh start. The turning point came when Dr Vikram introduced me to a different way of looking at health: aligning daily life with Nature’s Laws rather than fighting my body with ever‑increasing medicines. Initially I was afraid of fasting because I had been told my medicines required regular meals, but his clear, practical guidance helped me experiment slowly and safely. Step by step, I learned that my body could be trusted when given the right conditions to heal.

I moved toward a whole‑food plant‑based diet, with plenty of fruits, salads, and simple home‑cooked meals, and gradually adopted intermittent fasting—often eating just one meal a day. Over time I was able to effortlessly let go of alcohol, refined sugar, and non‑vegetarian and processed foods, noticing that my energy and mental clarity improved as my plate became simpler and more natural. Excess weight and inches began to melt away, and my dependence on doctors and medicines dropped to almost zero over the last several years.

Reclaiming Movement, Sleep, and Joy

Equally powerful has been aligning my daily rhythm with nature. I started with short walks and slowly built up to more than 10,000 steps a day; now I routinely walk about 10 km or 15,000‑plus steps, something that would have been unimaginable when I could barely manage ten minutes without stopping. This regular walking, combined with a light, natural diet, has not only strengthened my heart and stamina but has also become my favorite part of the day.

My nights have transformed as well. From restless, anxious sleep and dependence on pills, I have moved to sleeping “like a baby” from about 9 pm to 4:30–5 am, waking up refreshed and energetic for the entire day. For the past four to five years I have not visited a doctor or taken a single tablet, which still feels nothing short of miraculous given my earlier history of heart attacks, stents, and chronic medication.

What I value most is that Sattv does not impose hard‑to‑follow rigid rules. Instead, it gently helps one re‑establish a living relationship with Nature’s Laws—through food, movement, rest, and compassion for all beings. Even when I drift a little during festivals or family gatherings, simply returning to these nature‑aligned habits quickly restores my balance and reassures me that my body knows how to heal itself when I follow Nature’s Laws.

This shift has changed how I look at my plate, my body, and my responsibilities to myself and others. Health for me is no longer just the absence of disease, but a natural outcome of living in tune with nature—walking daily, eating one mindful meal in peace, sleeping on time, and honoring genuine hunger and satiety. From a life of illness, fear, and dependency to one of steady energy, a lighter body, and a quieter mind, this journey has been truly transformative, and I feel blessed to have been introduced to the Sattv lifestyle.
